Meet Mikey, the world's most adorable pooch (at least according to Lizzard).
Mikey and Lizzard first met in the fall of 2002. Lizzard was all settled in Portland and working full-time, but she was lonely living all by herself. So, on that fateful Friday, she took a long lunch with a co-worker and went to the Oregon Humane Society. When her eyes met Mikey's, it was love at first sight. He came and leaned sideways against the fence to maximize the number of pats Lizzard could give him. After playing for a few minutes together, Lizzard decided to adopt him.
Since then, they've shared many good and happy times. They convinced Stamps to join their family and moved to a house with a back yard - all for Mikey!
Mikey's favorite pastimes include basking in the sun, going for walks, riding in the car, eating popcorn and watching the world go by through the window.

Mikey is a little spoiled sometimes. This picture was taken just before we came back from a camping trip. Mikey was very happy to find that Stamps had placed the camping foam in his spot for the car ride home. |

Mikey loves riding in the car. More than once, Lizzard left the car door open in the garage while carrying in groceries and Mikey has seized the opportunity to jump right in. He's also been known to stay there even after all the groceries are in the house and the garage light is off. :-) This picture was taken on a trip to the beach and was a lucky shot. Lizzard was, of course, focusing on the road and wasn't checking to see what the picture would look like - but she was quite happy when she saw how this one turned out. |

Not long after Mikey came to live with Lizzard, this picture was taken. The expression on his face is so cute! Mikey has learned how to use those big brown doggy eyes of his to his advantage. On a side note, the orange ball behind him is one of his favorite toys. He rolls it around and tosses it to get food to come out which is so fun to watch.

Mikey enjoys being comfortable and cozy. In the winter, Stamps will often cover Mikey with a spare blanket and see how long Mikey stays that way. In the absence of a reason to run and bark at something, Mikey will enjoy the covers for hours. Mikey is such a cute but spoiled pooch. Lizzard is happy she can provide a comfortable life for him. |

When Lizzard and Stamps bought their house, neither noticed that the window ledges were a lower than the ones at the apartment they'd been living in. Mikey, however, discovered this almost instantly because he loves to watch the world go by. The windowsills are at the perfect height for Mikey to sit down and rest his head while watching the "Mikey TV". |

This is a picture from Girls' Camp. While waiting for an activity to start one sunny morning, some girls thought it'd be fun to see if Mikey would let them put sunglasses on him. Since he's quite easy-going, he didn't seem to mind and even left them on long enough for many pictures to be taken. This is one good-lookin' pooch.

While not a fan of baseball caps most of the time, Mikey will tolerate it when Lizzard puts one on him for a minute or two. In this case, he just looked soooo cute with his expression and the BYU hat that Lizzard needed a picture of it. |

Stamps snapped this picture of Mikey during a walk one day. The blue thing across his snout is his "Gentle Leader". Mikey has kind of a sensitive throat and coughs whenever he pulls on a leash attached to his collar, so we use this instead for walks. It goes over his snout and hooks behind his head. It's quite effective and highly recommended by Lizzard and Stamps. |

Mikey absolutely loves to bask in the sun. He is covered in fur so one would think that the sun would be too hot for him. In addition, that fur is black so it absorbs all the heat from the sun's rays. But, he really seems to enjoy it. He'll sit in the yard in the sun until he gets too hot and then he'll go cool off in the shade for a few minutes and then right back into the sun again. If he looks out the window and sees the sun shining, he makes sure that Lizzard and Stamps know that he wants to be outside in it. |

Lizzard took this picture while driving (without looking at the screen since her eyes were on the road). She just turned the camera around and pushed the button. There's something sweet about the shot even though it is crooked - which she COULD fix but decided against. Mikey is relaxing in the back seat of the car on the way home from a trip to the beach. Doesn't he look peaceful? |

Here is Mikey on the beach during a Youth Conference. He's so happy when he can run and explore, though he tends to keep his distance from the water most of the time. His ears are so cute in this picture. |

Once upon a time, Mikey was afraid of the fan. Then, one day, he realized that the cool air felt good and - when placed in the window - brought in all sorts of good smells from outside. |

Mikey looks really mean in this picture, but he's actually just playing with his squeaker bone. It's one of his favorite toys. It bounces, it makes noise -- what else could a pooch want? |
